Overview

We're seeking an Accounting Team Supervisor in the Finance Business Support Services (FBSS) department to lead a team of accountants performing accounting processes and operations within a centralized finance function based in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Accounting Team Supervisor will lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering high-quality, efficient financial transaction processes across TeKnowledge business units operating in 15 countries. The FBSS provides accounting services for key finance processes and leverages Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP as the core platform. This role works closely with other FBSS teams and serves as the key liaison point with in-country finance teams across the organization. The supervisor will also support the FBSS Head in scaling the shared services function, ensuring standardized, automated, and compliant finance operations.

Responsibilities
• Assist the FBSS Head with the setup and scaling of the FBSS teams, including infrastructure, staffing, systems, and governance.
• Ensure the adoption and optimization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP to support standardized and automated finance processes.
• Supervise and lead a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Develop talent through training, mentoring, and coaching.
• Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.
• Oversee core finance processes, including:
• Accounts Payable (AP): vendor invoice processing and payment execution.
• Accounts Receivable (AR): customer billing, collections, and cash application.
• Bank reconciliations, intercompany journals, and tax processes.
• General Ledger (GL): journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close activities.
• Fixed Assets: asset tracking, depreciation, and disposals.
• Payroll coordination with HR, compliance, and reporting.
• FRS 16: additions or modifications to leases, monthly transactions, and terminations.
• Multi-currency accounting and revaluation.
• Maintain robust internal controls and compliance frameworks.
• Liaise closely with countries served by the FBSS to ensure local and country-specific requirements are understood and delivered.
• Drive the adoption of automation tools and AI to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Serve as the primary liaison between in-country finance teams and FBSS for specific business units, ensuring responsiveness and alignment with operational needs.
• Engage with in-country finance to resolve queries and issues.
• Drive standardization and harmonization of finance processes across FBSS teams, regions, and business units.

Qualifications
• 5-9 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or shared services environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
• ACA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
• Experience supervising teams and supporting people development.
• Strong experience with accounting and shared service or centralized finance operations.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other advanced ERP platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of finance ERP systems and process improvement.
• Solid understanding of risk management, governance, and compliance.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
