Our client is searching for a highly skilled and compassionate Community Health Nurse Specialist to serve the Maiduguri, Borno region. This role involves a hybrid work model, combining essential field activities with remote administrative and coordination tasks, offering a balanced approach to impactful healthcare delivery. You will be at the forefront of providing comprehensive health education, direct patient care, and vital health services to underserved populations. This position is crucial for improving health outcomes and promoting well-being within the community, focusing on preventative care, disease management, and maternal and child health.
Responsibilities include conducting health assessments, diagnosing and treating common illnesses, and managing chronic conditions. You will develop and implement community-based health programs, focusing on areas such as sanitation, nutrition, immunization, and family planning. Collaboration with local healthcare facilities, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations will be a key aspect of this role to ensure integrated and effective health service delivery. The specialist will also be responsible for training community health workers and volunteers, empowering them to extend healthcare services to the farthest reaches of the community.
Key duties encompass:
Providing direct nursing care, including physical examinations, vital sign monitoring, and wound care. Educating individuals and families on health promotion, disease prevention, and self-management techniques. Developing and delivering health education programs tailored to community needs. Identifying health risks and implementing interventions to mitigate them. Managing and coordinating patient care across different healthcare settings. Administering immunizations and other prescribed medications. Participating in mobile health clinics and outreach activities. Collecting and analyzing health data to inform program planning and evaluation. Mentoring and supervising community health workers. Advocating for patients' health needs and rights.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution and a valid nursing license. A minimum of 5 years of experience in community health nursing, public health, or a related field is required. Experience working in challenging environments or with vulnerable populations is highly advantageous. Strong clinical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team are essential. Fluency in local languages spoken in Borno State would be a significant asset. This role requires adaptability, resilience, and a deep commitment to improving public health.
