Overall Function
• The Department of Nursing at Miva Open University is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Lecturer I or Senior Lecturer.
• The successful candidate will hold a doctorate degree PhD in Nursing to drive the academic mission of the university by delivering innovative high-quality lectures, engaging in research activities, and supporting student learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching:
• Deliver undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Nursing.
• Develop and maintain innovative course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, and assignments.
• Foster a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
Research:
• Conduct scholarly research in the field of Nursing.
• Publish research findings in reputable conference proceedings and journals.
• Collaborate with colleagues and students on research projects.
Service:
• Visiting and following-up on Nursing students during their clinical posting.
• Engage in departmental and university service activities.
• Participate in academic committees and contribute to the development of departmental policies and programs.
• Assist in student recruitment and outreach activities.
Professional Development:
• Stay current with advancements in Nursing by attending conferences, workshops, and training sessions.
• Continuously update teaching methods and course content to reflect industry trends and emerging technologies.
Qualifications and Skills
• A PhD in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Must possess an RN certificate licenced by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria NMCN.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• A passion for teaching and the ability to engage students in the learning process.
• Demonstrated potential for research and scholarly activities.
• Proficiency in relevant programming languages and software tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
• Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level.
• Industry experience in Nursing.
• Research publications in peer-reviewed and high impact journals or conferences proceedings.
• Familiarity with modern pedagogical techniques and educational technology.
• Evidence of involvement in academic or professional societies.
