Job Description
Overview
• The Generator Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel and gas-powered generators to ensure reliable power supply.
• The role involves mechanical and electrical diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and emergency repair services while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Install and commission new generator systems and associated equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance oil changes, filter replacement, belt inspection, coolant checks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Inspect and repair fuel systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems.
• Monitor generator performance and ensure proper voltage and frequency output.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Replace defective components such as alternators, starters, batteries, and control modules.
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide on-site repairs when required.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
• OND, SSCE, Trade Tests 1, 2, 3
• Proven experience working with diesel or gas generators.
• Strong knowledge of engine systems and mechanicalcontrols.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently
• Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy equipment.
• Valid driver’s license if field service is required.
