Job Description
Working with the Finance Manager, develop the financial strategy for WSPOL derived from the corporate strategy.
2. FINANCIAL REPORTING / EXTERNAL AUDIT Oversee the financial reporting / financial control function by: (i) Reviewing the accounting entries made by the account clerks; (ii) Taking ownership of the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with the applicable accounting standards such as IFRS, etc. Assist in the coordination and communication with external auditors along with the Finance Manager, team members and internal audit staff. Efficiently manage and coordinate the yearly audit exercise.
• MANAGEMENT REPORTING Regular update of schedules with respect to new prepayment and accrual transactions. Maintaining schedules for rent, medical, insurance etc. prepayments. Maintaining schedules for royalty, NDDC, Mgt. benefits etc. accruals. Preparation of monthly IFRS management reports. Regular checks and supervision of entries into accounting software.
4. ANNUAL BUDGETING Develop templates for budget preparation and train all budget holders on budgets development and ensure learnings from previous budget sessions are implemented. Assist all budget holders in preparing the budget in line with agreed business plan guidelines. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances. Plan and oversee consolidated budgets and long-range plans. Coordination and preparation of the annual budget. Maintains oversight of Line of business (+/- Corporate) Budget.
5. RISK MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL Managing financial, asset and strategic risks. Ensuring there is current and appropriate insurance cover for all risks and assets. Negotiate with insurers over cover for energy package, plant all risk and industrial all risk
