Job Description
Business Development Officer

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Sector: Oil & Gas | Energy |

The Opportunity

We are seeking a commercially driven Business Development Officer to help power the next phase of growth for our Oil & Gas recruitment and advisory practice. This role sits at the center of revenue growth, client acquisition, and strategic expansion, supporting an ambitious plan to expand revenue year-on-year over the next three years while extending our footprint beyond Nigeria.

This is not a passive sales role. You will shape opportunities before they go to market, influence bid strategy, lead tenders end-to-end, and help position Energi Talent Resourcing as a trusted partner to operators, service companies, and investors across the energy value chain.

If you thrive at the intersection of relationships, strategy, and execution, this role is built for you.

What You’ll Do

Drive Growth & Win Work

∙Proactively engage clients before tender issuance, shaping scope, positioning, and

commercial expectations.

∙Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across the Oil & Gas sector

∙Support expansion into new accounts, markets, and investor-led opportunities.

Own the Bid & Tender Process.

∙Lead the end-to-end bid lifecycle, from opportunity identification to compliant

submission.

∙Coordinate research, strategy sessions, and proposal development to produce compelling,

competitive bids.

∙Prepare and review all commercial, pricing, and risk elements of submissions.

Collaborate Across the Business

∙Work closely with consultants, operations, procurement, legal, and finance teams to

deliver aligned, high-quality submissions

∙Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and partners to gather technical and commercial

inputs

∙Run internal briefings once bids are secured to ensure seamless handover and delivery

Engage Regulators, Clients & Investors

∙Follow up with NipeX, NAPIMS, and other industry bodies on bids and opportunities

∙Manage compliance and renewals across DPR, NCDMB, NipeX portals, and related

certifications

∙Support meetings with potential investors, presenting Energi’s value proposition and

negotiating commercial terms

Improve, Measure, Refine

∙Track performance against KPIs and growth targets

∙Lead post-bid reviews to drive continuous improvement

∙Maintain robust documentation, proposal libraries, and client records.

What You Bring

Core Capabilities

∙Strong written and verbal communication — persuasive, clear, and commercially sharp

∙Solid understanding of Nigeria’s onshore and offshore Oil & Gas regulatory environment

∙Confident presenter with the ability to influence senior stakeholders

∙Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.

∙Comfortable working to deadlines in fast-moving, high-stakes environments

Mindset & Style

∙Proactive, self-starting, and results-driven

∙Commercially curious and opportunity-oriented

∙Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills

∙Disciplined, organised, and accountable

Qualifications & Experience

∙Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline

∙Minimum 1 year experience in bidding, tendering, proposal management, or business

development

∙Exposure to the Oil & Gas or Energy sector strongly preferred

∙Appetite to continuously learn and stay ahead of industry trends
