This is a rare, strategic mandate for a forward-thinking practitioner to shape the future of a premier Lagos-based law firm. More than a senior fee-earning role, this position offers the autonomy to establish and scale a specialised Financial Services and Securities Practice Group from inception. You will influence the firm’s long-term strategic direction, building a high-performance team in one of Africa's most dynamic financial hubs.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the growth plan for the new Financial Services and Securities Group, setting clear market-positioning goals and operational benchmarks.
• Business Development: Leverage an existing track record to manage and expand relationships with top-tier financial institutions, corporates, and global investors.
• Revenue Generation: Convert industry relationships into high-value mandates, enhancing the firm's presence in the Nigerian and West African markets.
• Specialised Advisory: Deliver commercially focused legal advice on complex matters including Capital Markets (Debt & Equity), Banking and Finance, Asset Management, and Tax Advisory.
• Talent Cultivation: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of junior lawyers, fostering technical excellence and a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Required Profile
• Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations, including the Investment and Securities Act (ISA) 2025 and current CBN recapitalisation requirements.
• Market Presence: A "rainmaker" profile with a demonstrable ability to originate business and sustain long-term client loyalty among Tier 1 banks and institutional investors.
• Commercial Acumen: Ability to provide strategic advice that aligns legal solutions with client business objectives in a volatile macroeconomic environment.
• Leadership: Proven experience in practice management or leading multidisciplinary teams on complex, cross-border transactional mandates.
