Position PurposeThe Senior HR Manager – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing is responsible for leading all Human Resources functions within a regulated pharmaceutical factory environment.
The role ensures full compliance with GMP, Nigerian labor laws, and regulatory expectations, while driving workforce discipline, productivity, and industrial harmony across production, quality, engineering, and support functions.
This position is mission-critical to maintaining audit readiness, people compliance, and operational continuity in a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant.
Key ResponsibilitiesFactory HR Leadership (Pharma Environment)
Act as the primary HR Business Partner to factory leadership and technical teams
Align HR strategy with pharmaceutical manufacturing objectives and compliance standards
Provide hands-on HR leadership across multi-shift, regulated operations
Talent Management & Workforce Planning
Lead manpower planning for Production, QA/QC, Validation, Engineering, Warehouse, and Utilities
Manage recruitment of pharma-specific roles (operators, pharmacists, analysts, engineers)
Ensure onboarding meets GMP documentation and training requirements
Drive succession planning for critical technical and compliance roles
GMP, Regulatory & Audit Compliance
Ensure HR systems and practices comply with GMP, WHO, NAFDAC, and internal audit standards
Maintain accurate training matrices, certification records, and personnel files
Support internal, regulatory, and customer audits (NAFDAC, WHO, client audits)
Ensure strict adherence to documentation, SOPs, and controlled records
Industrial Relations & Employee Discipline
Manage factory-level industrial relations and union interactions (where applicable)
Handle grievances, misconduct, and disciplinary actions in line with labor law and GMP standards
Enforce shop-floor discipline, attendance, shift adherence, and conduct policies
Act as escalation point for sensitive employee and compliance issues
Performance Management & Productivity
Implement performance management systems aligned with pharma KPIs
Support productivity improvement initiatives without compromising compliance
Align performance outcomes with training needs, corrective actions, and rewards
Compensation, Payroll & Statutory Compliance
Oversee payroll inputs, time & attendance systems, and shift allowances
Ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws, Factory Act, and statutory obligations
Manage HR compliance during inspections and statutory audits
Training, EHS & Employee Welfare
Coordinate GMP, EHS, and mandatory compliance training programs
Partner with Quality and EHS teams to strengthen compliance culture
Support safety committees, health programs, and employee wellbeing initiatives
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Zero major HR-related GMP or regulatory audit findings
Training compliance and certification completion rate
Workforce stability and attrition rate
Absenteeism and disciplinary trend reduction
Audit readiness and documentation accuracy
Employee engagement and grievance resolution timelines
Required ProfileEducation
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or related field
Master's Degree or professional HR certification (CIPM, SHRM, CHRP) preferred
Experience (MANDATORY)
10–15+ years of HR experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing
Minimum 5–7 years as Factory HR Manager or Senior HR role in a pharma plant
Proven experience working in GMP-regulated environments
Direct exposure to NAFDAC inspections and pharmaceutical audits
Experience managing large shop-floor and technical pharma workforces
Technical & Functional Skills
Deep knowledge of GMP requirements as they relate to HR
Nigerian labor law and Factory Act expertise
Industrial relations and union handling
Performance management in regulated environments
Payroll, attendance, and shift systems
HRIS and training documentation systems
