LOCATION: Mushin Lagos
ROLE SUMMARY
The research nurse will work with the site investigator and other staff within the study sites. Be able to meet up with timelines, ensure patient satisfaction. Ensure accurate and timely data collection.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To work under the direction of the Principal Investigator/ Site investigators.
• To perform a variety of duties involved in supporting the research project.
• Counselling and recruitment of participants.
• Screening of patients eligible to partake in the research.
• Collection of blood samples.
• Prompt and appropriate transfer of specimen to the laboratory.
• Follow-up on investigation results.
• Follow-up on participants by sending reminders on appointment, calling to check on them and giving feedback to the site coordinator.
• Tracking of patients to their homes, if scheduled appointments are missed.
• Assisting in data collection and documentation of necessary study data using provided tools.
• Monitoring participants’ vital signs on admission and at every scheduled visit.
• Note all adverse reactions observed or reported by the patient.
• Observing and reporting protocol deviation where necessary.
• To carry out any additional duties as may reasonably be required and assigned by the site investigators.
CRITERIA
• A Registered Nurse/Midwife (RN) or BSc Nursing certificate.
• Minimum of one (1) year working experience in a hospital or research setting.
• A current and valid practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
• A prior research experience (added advantage)
SKILLS
• Good at performing venepuncture unsupervised.
• Perform basic vital signs check.
• Computer literate
• Have good counselling skills
• Good communication skill and be fluent in English language.
• Ability to speak the local dialect will be strongly considered.
• Must be able to work under pressure.
• Must possess good collaboration skills and must be ready to cooperate with the research team and members of the multidisciplinary team.
