Job Summary



• The Operations Readiness / Commissioning & Start-Up Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness activities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient transition of SNG facilities from construction to steady-state operations.

• The role bridges project execution and operations, ensuring systems are tested, personnel are trained, procedures are in place, and facilities are ready for handover.




Key Responsibilities


Operations Readiness



• Develop and implement operations readiness plans and schedules aligned with project milestones

• Ensure operating procedures, maintenance strategies, spare parts, and documentation are prepared prior to start-up

• Support development of operating manuals, SOPs, emergency response plans, and control narratives

• Coordinate training and competency development for operations and maintenance personnel

• Verify readiness of utilities, systems, and infrastructure for commissioning and operations




Commissioning & Start-Up



• Plan and execute pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing activities

• Participate in system walkdowns, punch list management, and mechanical completion verification

• Support flushing, cleaning, pressure testing, and functional testing activities

• Coordinate start-up sequences and ensure safe introduction of hydrocarbons

• Monitor system performance and stabilize operations during ramp-up




Interface & Coordination



• Act as a key interface between project, construction, commissioning, operations, and HSE teams

• Support handover of systems from construction to commissioning and from project to operations

• Coordinate with vendors, licensors, and contractors during testing and start-up activities

• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS, and readiness reviews




Safety & Compliance



• Ensure all commissioning and start-up activities comply with HSE policies, permit-towork systems, and regulatory requirements

• Develop and review commissioning risk assessments, method statements, and procedures

• Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions




Documentation & Reporting



• Review and approve commissioning procedures, test records, and handover dossiers

• Track progress, report commissioning status, and manage readiness KPIs

• Support close-out of punch items and final project handover documentation




Required Qualifications



• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Process Engineering

• Minimum of 8–12 years of experience in oil and gas projects, with direct involvement in commissioning and start-up

• Proven experience in operations readiness, commissioning, or start-up of oil and gas facilities




Skills and Competencies



• Strong understanding of oil and gas process systems and plant operations

• In-depth knowledge of commissioning, start-up, and handover processes

• Strong planning, coordination, and interface management skills

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Excellent troubleshooting and operational problem-solving abilities

• High level of safety awareness and risk management capability

• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills




Working Conditions



• May require shift work, on-call duty, and emergency response

• Work may be in remote locations

• Exposure to hazardous environments requiring strict safety compliance
