Job Summary
• The Metering Specialist is responsible for the accurate measurement, monitoring, and verification of gas volume for sales and utilities in SNG facilities.
• The role ensures compliance with regulatory, contractual, and operational standards, supports custody transfer, and provides technical expertise in the selection, installation, calibration, and maintenance of metering systems.
Key Responsibilities
Metering Operations & Accuracy
• Ensure accurate measurement of hydrocarbon, and other fluids for custody transfer and operational reporting
• Monitor, analyze, and report flow measurement data and discrepancies
• Investigate metering anomalies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
• Maintain and optimize meter performance to meet accuracy and reliability standards
Installation, Calibration & Maintenance
• Specify, install, commission, and maintain flow meters ultrasonic, turbine, coriolis, positive displacement, differential pressure, etc.
• Perform calibration, verification, validation, and periodic testing of metering equipment
• Prepare and maintain calibration records, inspection reports, and service logs
• Ensure meters are installed, configured, and maintained in accordance with manufacturer specifications and international standards
Technical Support & Documentation
• Review and interpret P&IDs, flow diagrams, and instrumentation drawings
• Develop metering procedures, operating manuals, and calibration procedures
• Provide technical support for operations, production, and maintenance teams
• Assist in audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting
Safety & Compliance
• Ensure all metering activities comply with HSE policies, regulatory requirements, and company standards
• Participate in risk assessments, HAZID/HAZOP reviews, and safety meetings
• Ensure safe handling of metering equipment, pressure systems, and hazardous materials
Required Qualifications
• ND, HND or bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic, Instrumentation, or related Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in flow measurement and metering within gas distribution facilities
• Strong knowledge of hydrocarbon measurement, custody transfer, and metering standards
Skills and Competencies
• Expertise with flow meters: ultrasonic, turbine, coriolis, PD, DP, etc.
• Knowledge of API, AGA, ISO, and other relevant standards for flow measurement
• Strong troubleshooting, calibration, and analytical skills
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument datasheets
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong reporting skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Working Conditions
• May require shift work, on-call duty, and emergency response
• Work may be in remote locations
• Exposure to hazardous environments requiring strict safety compliance
