About Our Client
Our client, a leading organization with three decades of experience in the marine industry; is a Nigerian owned and managed provider of marine logistics services to the Oil and Gas industry.
Our client own and operate a wide range of marine vessels servicing major International Oil Companies and have established partnerships with various reputable international vessel owners building a strong track record in providing various vessels in the Nigerian Oil & Gas industry. Our client has an ambition to expand their service offerings and significantly increase their market share by 2028.
Job Objective
· Ensures the delivery of effective financial decision-making support to the business and its management, and oversee the development and execution of an effective financial strategy that will ensure optimal returns on investments for the business
· Establishes an effective framework for accurate recording, controlling and reporting on the company’s financial transactions and facilitate the judicious use of its financial resources
· Supports business growth and ensure sustainable profitability by providing sound advice on the financial implications of growth plans.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Formulates, updates and implements finance strategies, policies and processes
· Provides strategic financial management and leadership support across the business, in line with the overall corporate strategy
· Engage Executive management and the appropriate Board Committees to develop short, medium, and long-term financial plans and projections for the organization
· Develops and utilizes financial models and activity-based financial analysis to provide a basis for investment decisions and business planning
· Develops and manages key relationships with relevant external bodies / contacts e.g. regulatory organizations auditors, solicitors, banks etc. to facilitate effective business operations
· Advises management on financial benefits or demerits of proposed projects, changes in financial regulations and legislations as well as changes in competition and market trends.
· Raises funds as approved by the Board to finance our client’s activities
· Provides advice to executive management and the relevant Board Committee on the financial implications of business continuity plans
· Liaise with external and internal auditors; and ensure the annual and/or periodic audits are seamlessly carried out
· Manages our client’s treasury assets to achieve optimal sourcing, application and growth of funds
· Establishes appropriate and sound standards and procedures for internal and third-party payments across the business. Empowers and supports the Finance team to drive implementation and communication across the business
· Ensures adequate controls are in place to facilitate seamless payment and efficient financial management
· Develops and implements sound accounting framework in compliance with statutory provisions
· Develops and implements a robust and reliable financial reporting system in compliance with statutory requirements
· Establishes and implements the appropriate approval levels across Group Finance for recording and effecting accruals, adjustments (e.g. write-offs etc.)
· Approves payrolls along with the Head, Human Capital to facilitate payment to staff
· Oversees the preparation and communication of timely, accurate, and useful financial and management reports for investors/lending institutions and our client’s management on a periodic and /or ad-hoc basis
· Oversees the establishment of an effective debtor management system and policy
· Drives a cost-saving culture across all areas of the business
· Develops capability of subordinates towards the achievement of their own performance target
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Minimum of first degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related
· Relevant professional certifications e.g. Chartered Financial Analyst, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or its equivalent is required
· MBA or a Masters’ in related discipline is an added advantage
· Minimum of 8 years cognate experience, 3 of which must have been in a Senior Management position of a similar organisation, with evidence of regular engagement with the management team and financial partners
