About the job
• Plan and supervise lifting, loading, offloading, and transportation of heavy-duty equipment and materials
• Ensure the correct method of lifting and transport is selected and implemented for each operation.
• Monitor field operations to prevent accidents, injuries, or equipment damage.
• Prepare Method of Lifting and Transport Statements detailing lifting plans, load capacities, slinging methods, and safety precautions.
• Develop and update Risk Assessment Reports to identify potential hazards and establish preventive measures.
• Prepare Working Method Reports describing step-by-step lifting and transport procedures.
• Conduct Technical Assessments for Transport to verify vehicle, trailer, and lifting gear suitability.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all lifting and transport activities, including inspection and certification records.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies, equipment standards, and government regulations.
• Supervise proper use, inspection, and certification of lifting accessories slings, shackles, hooks, chains, etc..
• Conduct pre-task toolbox talks and daily safety briefings with crew members.
• Always coordinate with HSE personnel and investigate incidents and near-miss reports.
• Liaise with engineers, logistics officers, and site supervisors to plan and execute operations efficiently.
• Communicate equipment needs, faults, or maintenance issues to the maintenance or workshop department.
• Supervise and guide operators, riggers, and drivers to maintain discipline, safety, and job quality.
• Verify readiness, certification, and maintenance status of all cranes, forklifts, trailers, and lifting gear.
• Recommend improvements in lifting and transport techniques for safety and efficiency.
• Ensure proper record keeping for lifting permits, operator certifications, and inspection reports.
• Working with Heavy duty drivers, operators and logistics staff.
• During heavy duty material movement should be monitored on road.
Qualifications
• OND / HND / B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Transport Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in heavy-duty equipment operations oil & gas, construction, or logistics industry preferred.
• Certification in Lifting and Rigging Operations added advantage
• Strong understanding of risk assessment procedures and international lifting/transport standards
• Excellent leadership, documentation, and communication skills.
