Job Overview:
As a Remote Triage/Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing timely and efficient healthcare support to patients through remote communication channels. Your primary responsibility will be to assess patient symptoms, provide appropriate medical advice, and determine the level of care required.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work remotely, providing critical healthcare guidance to patients in need.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough assessments of patients' symptoms and medical history over the phone or through digital platforms.
• Use evidence-based guidelines to make informed decisions about the urgency and severity of patient conditions.
• Offer accurate medical advice and recommendations to patients regarding their health concerns.
• Educate patients about self-care, medications, and necessary follow-up steps.
• Determine the appropriate level of care needed, whether it's home care, a clinic visit, or immediate emergency services.
• Make referrals to specialists or other healthcare providers as necessary.
• Maintain detailed and accurate electronic health records (EHR) of patient interactions, assessments, and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with patient privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
• Collaborate with a remote healthcare team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and medical assistants.
• Provide support and guidance to colleagues as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families, addressing their concerns and providing emotional support.
• Follow up with patients to monitor their progress and ensure adherence to treatment plans.
• Stay current with medical knowledge and guidelines through ongoing training and education.
• Participate in peer reviews and quality improvement initiatives

Skill Sets Required / Preferred
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field
• Active state Registered Nurse license
• At least two years of experience in a hospital or medical facility
• Preferred certification in telephone triage or telehealth nursing, such as AAACN’s Telehealth Nursing Practice Essentials, to demonstrate expertise in remote patient assessment and care.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and treatments
• Proficient in using computers and medical software
• Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Proficiency in using standardized triage protocols, such as Schmitt-Thompson guidelines, to ensure accurate clinical decision-making in remote and telehealth settings
