Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Forensic Accountant to join their esteemed financial investigation team based in **Warri, Delta, NG**. This critical role involves the in-depth examination of financial records to uncover fraud, financial misconduct, and other irregularities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in providing expert financial analysis and testimony in legal and regulatory proceedings. This is a field-based position requiring a strong presence in the office and at client sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting comprehensive financial investigations into allegations of fraud, embezzlement, and financial irregularities. Analyzing complex financial data, including accounting records, transaction histories, and business records. Tracing financial flows, identifying hidden assets, and quantifying financial losses. Gathering and preserving evidence in a manner suitable for legal proceedings. Preparing detailed forensic accounting reports that clearly articulate findings, methodologies, and conclusions. Assisting legal counsel in developing case strategies and providing expert witness testimony in court. Conducting interviews with relevant parties to gather information and clarify financial transactions. Developing and implementing internal control recommendations to prevent future fraud. Collaborating with law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies as required. Staying updated on fraud schemes, investigative techniques, and relevant legal frameworks. Managing multiple investigation projects concurrently, ensuring deadlines are met.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or equivalent. Significant experience (5+ years) in forensic accounting, auditing, or financial investigations. Deep understanding of accounting principles, auditing standards, and fraud examination techniques. Proficiency in data analysis software and forensic accounting tools. Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly. Proven experience in providing expert witness testimony is highly desirable. High level of integrity, objectivity, and discretion. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often under pressure. Willingness to travel locally as required for investigations and client meetings.
