Job Description
Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join their finance department. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to contribute expertise in tax compliance and planning from anywhere. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, and assisting with tax planning strategies. You will play a vital role in minimizing tax liabilities while ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities: Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for corporations and other business entities. Ensure timely and accurate filing of all required tax returns and other tax-related filings. Conduct tax research to identify and interpret relevant tax laws, regulations, and rulings. Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position. Identify potential tax savings opportunities and advise management on tax implications of business decisions. Respond to inquiries from tax authorities and manage tax audits. Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation. Stay current with changes in tax legislation and regulations and assess their impact on the company. Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information for tax compliance and planning. Assist in the preparation of transfer pricing documentation and analysis. Reconcile tax accounts and ensure proper accounting for tax provisions. Support the accounting team with tax-related journal entries and accruals. Perform other tax-related duties as assigned by the Tax Manager or Director of Finance. Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements related to tax. Develop and maintain strong relationships with external tax advisors and service providers. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in Taxation or an MBA with a concentration in finance is highly preferred. Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent is strongly desired. Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in corporate tax accounting, with a strong understanding of various tax areas. Proven experience in preparing and reviewing complex corporate tax returns. In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Tax, H&R Block Tax software) and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks). Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines in a remote environment. Experience with international tax is a plus. Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
