Our client, a prominent international firm with a growing presence in Nigeria, is seeking an accomplished Senior Remote Accountant specializing in Financial Reporting. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from the convenience of your home office. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the company's financial statements and reports. You will be responsible for managing the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing complex financial reports, and ensuring compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements. This role demands a meticulous individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will be a key player in providing insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and executing the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled. Preparing comprehensive and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with IFRS. Analyzing financial data, identifying variances, and providing insightful explanations for management review. Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and resolution of discrepancies. Preparing and filing statutory reports and tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Assisting with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations. Developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and operational efficiency. Reconciling bank statements and intercompany accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Staying abreast of changes in accounting standards and tax laws, and implementing necessary updates. Mentoring and supporting junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA), and a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a significant focus on financial reporting. Proven experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel are essential. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required for this remote role.
