Job Description
Our client is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Procurement Manager with extensive experience in sourcing and procuring specialized equipment and services for the oil and gas industry. Based in **Port Harcourt, Rivers, NG**, this role is critical to ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of essential materials and machinery required for exploration, production, and refining operations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing the supply chain to minimize risks and maximize value.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies aligned with company objectives and industry best practices. Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors for oil and gas equipment, materials, and services. Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and delivery schedules to achieve optimal cost savings and quality. Manage the entire procurement process, from requisitions and purchase orders to delivery and payment. Oversee tender processes, including the preparation of RFQs/RFPs and bid analysis. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders. Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and industry regulations to identify potential risks and opportunities. Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and relevant industry regulations. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance departments to understand procurement needs and project requirements. Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and reduce carrying costs. Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of efficiency and continuous improvement. Manage import/export documentation and logistics for international procurement. Analyze spend data to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive procurement efficiencies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a management role within the oil and gas sector. In-depth knowledge of oil and gas equipment, materials, and services. Proven track record of successful contract negotiation and supplier management. Expertise in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Strong understanding of supply chain principles, logistics, and international trade. Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Professional certifications such as CIPS are highly regarded.
